VANGUARD TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS, LLC
Customized software and application design. Website design, support and optimization.
Technologies We Support
Vanguard Technical Solutions has a wide variety of programming experience in various software languages and relational database systems. Here we have listed most of the major programming languages that we provided development services and support for. If you do not see your specific need, don’t worry, we have handled many migration projects where a clients have moved from older (Legacy System) software to a modern and more widely supported technology. Simply go to our Contact Us Page and fill out a request.
ASP.NET is an open-source server-side web application framework designed for web development to produce dynamic web pages. It was developed by Microsoft to allow programmers to build dynamic web sites, web applications and web services.
Perl is a script programming language that is similar in syntax to the C language and that includes a number of popular UNIX facilities such as sed, awk, and tr. Perl is an interpreted language that can optionally be compiled just before execution into either C code or cross-platform bytecode. When compiled, a Perl program is almost (but not quite) as fast as a fully precompiled C language program. Perl is regarded as a good choice for developing common gateway interface (CGI) programs because it has good text manipulation facilities (although it also handles binary files).
Microsoft Access is a DBMS (also known as Database Management System) from Microsoft that combines the relational Microsoft Jet Database Engine with a graphical user interface and software-development tools. It is a member of the Microsoft Office suite of applications, included in the Professional and higher editions or sold separately. Microsoft Access stores data in its own format based on the Access Jet Database Engine.
It can also import or link directly to data stored in other applications and databases. Software developers and data architects can use Microsoft Access to develop application software, and “power users” can use it to build software applications. Like other Office applications, Access is supported by Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), an object-based programming language that can reference a variety of objects including DAO (Data Access Objects), ActiveX Data Objects, and many other ActiveX components. Visual objects used in forms and reports expose their methods and properties in the VBA programming environment, and VBA code modules may declare and call Windows operating-system functions.
PowerBuilder is a popular rapid application development (RAD) tool for building object-oriented programmingclient/server applications the parts of which can be distributed within a network. PowerBuilder is a product of Sybase, a company that has historically been a leader in selling products for building distributed and replicated database in networks. A major feature of PowerBuilder (and its competitors) is the ability to create databases using an object-oriented interface. Applications created with PowerBuilder can access other popular types of databases on other major platforms using Open Database Connectivity (ODC).
SQL Server is Microsoft’s relational database management system (RDBMS). It is a full-featured databse primarily designed to compete against competitors Oracle Database (DB) and MySQL. Like all major RBDMS, SQL Server supports ANSI SQL, the standard SQL language. However, SQL Server also contains T-SQL, its own SQL implemention. SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) (previously known as Enterprise Manager) is SQL Server’s main interface tool, and it supports 32-bit and 64-bit environments. SQL Server is sometimes referred to as MSSQL and Microsoft SQL Server.
Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) is an implementation of Microsoft’s discontinued event-driven programming language, Visual Basic 6, and its associated integrated development environment (IDE). Visual Basic for Applications enables building user-defined functions (UDFs), automating processes and accessing Windows API and other low-level functionality through dynamic-link libraries (DLLs). It supersedes and expands on the abilities of earlier application-specific macro programming languages such as Word’s WordBasic. It can be used to control many aspects of the host application, including manipulating user interface features, such as menus and toolbars, and working with custom user forms or dialog boxes.
As its name suggests, VBA is closely related to Visual Basic and uses the Visual Basic Runtime Library. However, VBA code normally can only run within a host application, rather than as a standalone program. VBA can, however, control one application from another using OLE Automation. For example, VBA can automatically create a Microsoft Word report from Microsoft Excel data that Excel collects automatically from polled sensors. VBA can use, but not create, ActiveX/COM DLLs, and later versions add support for class modules. VBA is built into most Microsoft Office applications
PostgreSQL is a powerful, open source object-relational database system. It has more than 15 years of active development and a proven architecture that has earned it a strong reputation for reliability, data integrity, and correctness.
SAP ASE (Adaptive Server Enterprise) which is commonly known as ASE or just Sybase DB, is a relational model database server product for businesses developed by Sybase Corporation which became part of SAP AG. ASE is predominantly used on the Unix platform, but is also available for Microsoft Windows.
MySQL is a relational database management system based on SQL (Structured Query Language). The application is used for a wide range of purposes, including data warehousing, e-commerce, and logging applications. The most common use for mySQL however is for the purpose of a web database. It can be used to store anything from a single record of information to an entire inventory of available products for an online store. In association with a scripting language such as PHP or Perl. It is possible to create websites which will interact in real-time with a mySQL database to rapidly display categorised and searchable information to a website user.
VBScript (“Visual Basic Scripting Edition”) is an Active Scripting language developed by Microsoft that is modeled on Visual Basic. It is designed as a “lightweight” language with a fast interpreter for use in a wide variety of Microsoft environments. Most times, it is used as a client side scripting language in Website development, similar to Java Script.
Microsoft Office is a set of interrelated desktop applications, servers and services, collectively referred to as an office suite, for the Microsoft Windows and Mac OS X operating systems. Microsoft Office comes in several versions and is a commonly used suite of applications designed to allow integration between each other. There are many applications included in the Microsoft Office Suite, but the most commonly know are Word (Word Processor), Excel (Spreadsheet), PowerPoint (Presentations), Outlook (E-Mail, Calendar and Scheduling), Microsoft Access (Database).
Most Microsoft Office applications share a common programming interface call VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) which allows the applications to communicate, pass information between them and function seamlessly.
Visual Studio is a complete set of development tools for building ASP.NET Web applications, XML Web Services, desktop applications, and mobile applications. Visual Basic, Visual C#, and Visual C++ all use the same integrated development environment (IDE), which enables tool sharing and eases the creation of mixed-language solutions. In addition, these languages use the functionality of the .NET Framework, which provides access to key technologies that simplify the development of ASP Web applications and XML Web Services.
WordPress is an online, open source website creation tool written in PHP known for being one of the easiest and most powerful blogging and website content management system (or CMS) in existence today. The basic WordPress site can be further enhanced via the use of Plug-Ins, self contained applets designed to work in conjunction with a WordPress website to provide additional functionality.
Visual Basic is a high level programming language which evolved from the earlier DOS version called BASIC. BASIC means Beginners’ All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code. It is a relatively easy programming language to learn. The code looks a lot like English Language. Different software companies produced different versions of BASIC, such as Microsoft QBASIC, QUICKBASIC, GWBASIC ,IBM BASICA and so on. However, people prefer to use Microsoft Visual Basic today, as it is a well developed programming language and supporting resources are available everywhere. Now, there are many versions of VB exist in the market, the most popular one and still widely used by many VB programmers.
